Kigali is the capital city of Rwanda, it is ranked one of the most beautiful towns of east Africa, clean and safe to be in, the Kigali Genocide Memorial was built to provide a place of rest to the many people who lost their lives during the 1994 Rwanda genocide, in the year 1999, the Rwandan Government together with the city provided land for residents to build on a resting place for the victims of the war, and the dead to find and have a peaceful burial ground. The construction of the genocide place started in the same year to date it serves as a burial ground to over 250,000 people.

The 1994 Rwanda genocide happened due to tribal wars between the Tutsi and Hutu, the war was because of disputes and differences that had accumulated overtime, many people of Rwanda became victims of the war, families were displaced and moved to the neighboring countries of Uganda, Burundi and the democratic republic of Congo, hundreds of people were thrown into water bodies, some were recovered while others were not, some were in the forest, it was all bloody, all these were brought together in Mass graves at the Kigali memorial genocide.

The Kigali genocide is located in the town center, approximately 10 minutes’ drive from Gisozi, the genocide is run by non-governmentalorganizations committed from stopping the genocides from ever happening again, the center is placed with different exhibit places with skulls, photographs of survivors, the largest space at the genocides documents the history of the war, the memorial point attributes so much to the history of the thousands of people who lost their lives during the war, this included innocent children and women. Visiting the site can be done anytime of the year, it is guided by local guides most of which are victims of the war, and each time is different as each of the guides has their own story to tell.

The construction of the genocide is a sign for generations today and later of the evil acts and that such a thing will never happen ever again in Rwanda, it is a sign to show the people or Rwanda and the whole world at large about acts of humanity and tribalism, nepotism and all sorts of segregation, besides the genocide, there are more genocide points like the Nyamata genocide, this was a former church situated 30 kilometers south of Kigali city, the victims were buried in this church, it is unfortunate that many Tutsi people gathered here for safety but then it turned out a trapping point, they locked themselves in the church and the Hutu forced them to open doors which led to a massive mascara, the alter cloth to date is still stained in blood, the Nyanza genocide, it holds the grave yards of many Rwandan genocide victims.
